Walking With Heart: Supporting Tana in the ALS Walk 2025

At UES, we believe that beauty isn’t just about the hair you wear—it’s about the heart and community you share.

This fall, our team is once again coming together to support something deeply personal and meaningful to one of our own.

Why We Walk

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, our very own Tana will once again take part in WalkALS Georgia at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta.

She doesn’t walk alone—she walks with the UES team, with our community, and with the memory of her mom and sister, both of whom she lost to ALS.

For more than 20 years, Tana has carried their memory forward.

23 years since she lost her mom, 18 years since she lost her sister, she has turned grief into action—raising awareness and funds year after year to support others still fighting.

Her strength inspires us all, and we’re honored to walk beside her.

What is WalkALS Georgia?

WalkALS Georgia is more than just a fundraising event—it’s a community of support, strength, and hope for those living with ALS.

Together, the money raised ensures that Georgians with ALS and their families have access to free-of-cost programs like:

  • Support groups that bring families together
  • Financial reimbursement to help with out-of-pocket expenses
  • Respite and in-home care for caregivers
  • Accessible transportation to ALS Clinics and medical appointments

When we walk, we walk for awareness. We walk for community. We walk for hope. And most of all—we walk for a cure.

How You Can Support

This year, we’ve created a special way for our guests and friends to get involved.

We’re hosting a raffle giveaway to raise funds for Tana’s team.

Tickets are $20 each or three for $50, and the winner will take home a gift basket valued at over $1,000—packed with gift cards, hair products, candles, and treasures donated by some of our favorite local Virginia Highland businesses.

✨ Every ticket purchased brings us one step closer to supporting families living with ALS and one step closer to a cure.

🎟️ Grab your tickets in-salon or online:

What is ALS?

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This leads to loss of muscle control, impacting the ability to move, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe.

  • ALS is progressive, meaning symptoms worsen over time.
  • It specifically targets motor neurons, which control voluntary movement.
  • Common symptoms include muscle twitching, weakness, difficulty speaking, and swallowing.
  • While there is currently no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

ALS impacts each person differently, but the fight for better treatments—and one day, a cure—remains the same.
